Learning from Daddy

So my last post was about how I had to learn to watch my language since Abby is bound to repeat it. This one is on her dad. lol

I went to watch the first basketball game of a friends son and when I came home I see my husband and our daughter sitting on the couch, both holding an Xbox remote. Abby was pretending to play the game with her daddy. I got no more than one step inside the door and I hear Abby yell "Aaaah! Shoot him!!"

Then shortly thereafter she follows that up with "Those damn Russians!" (thanks honey)

I'm telling you guys, they are watching and listening and then repeating it all!! lol

Watch what you say because little ears hear everything!!

So, today in the car I learned a very valuable lesson from Abby. Be careful what you say in front of your kids, because you never know when it's going to come back out of their little mouths. Let's take the word ass for example. Today on the way home from running errands Abby told her brother that he needed to play Play-doh with her when we got home. He told her that he was going to play his 3DS, not Play-doh. What was Abby's response you might ask?

"Bubba, don't be a poopy ass!" (Bubba is her nickname for Dominic)

I immediately told her that she couldn't say that word. So she pauses for a second and says:

"Sorry Mom. Bubba, don't be a poopy BUTT!"

Yep, that's my girl! lol

Abby's View on being in love, going to bed, growing up and other things.

This is just a hodgepodge of different things that Abby has said since the 23rd of December (2011). There are some real jewels in here, so sit back, relax, and have a giggle. :)

12/23/11
My husband and I were sitting on the couch snuggling and watching tv one night and Abby comes running up to us and just stands there and looks at us for a minute. "Mommy, are you in love with Daddy?" she asked. I said, "Yes, I'm very much in love with Daddy." She pondered my answer for a moment and then proceeded to climb up onto our laps, wrap her arms around both our necks and told us, "I want to be in love with you guys too."

12/25/11
On the stuffed dog that she got for Christmas:
"My puppy doesn't have a button, but he's soft." This came about 20 minutes after she asked what the puppy did and I told her that it didn't do anything.

A short time later I was putting the Hungry Hungry Hippo game together that she got and she kept snatching the pieces away. I looked at her and said, "Abby, I'm going to have to beat you." Not missing a single beat she replies, "That's crazy Mom. You always say that." lol As you can see, she's really not concerned OR convinced that I'm going to beat her.

12/28/11
On why she couldn't go to bed:
"Mom, my bed is too slippery!"

On what needed to be done after dinner:
We told Abby that she needed to put her plate in the sink after she was finished eating and she said, "Actually, I need to wash my face."

After washing her face she was sitting in the living room coughing and when we turned to look at her she said, "I'm ok, that was just my butt."

12/31/11
After farting on me she ran over to her Dad and very proudly told him:
"I farted on Mom because that was a good idea!"

After her bath one night, when she was getting dressed for bed, she sat down on the bed to put her panties on and yelled, "Nakey babies on beds!!"

1/1/12
Abby crawled into bed with us on this morning and she was bouncing on her father and he was trying to get her to stop. She jumped onto his belly and said, "It's not going to happen Daddy, stop fighting me!"

She decided to run out of our room for a few minutes so we cuddled up while we had a chance. It didn't take long for her to come back. She wiggled her way in between us and threw her arm over my shoulder and her dad told her that she was mooching in on his territory and that I belonged to him. She set him straight by telling him, "No she doesn't. She's mine." As it is with 3 year olds, it wasn't long before she was off to the next thing and as she climbed down from our bed and ran out of the room she said, "You can have Mommy, Dad."

Later in the day Abby was eating string cheese. After peeling off a strip she said, "Oh my gosh! Woah. This looks like a worm."

1/5/12
Abby came running out to the living room to tattle on her brother. Here's what she had to say:
"Bubba say no I can't have goldfishies (the crackers). Will you go beat Bubba? Bubba needs to be beat."

(Just a disclaimer: We always tell our kids that we are going to beat them (jokingly), but I would just like to say that we never hurt our kids or beat them.)

1/8/12
On her future:
"When I growed up, I will go to the airport and get a new home." I have to say, it's very depressing to know that, at 3 years old, my little girl is already planning to leave us. Yeah, I know it's coming someday, but I never thought that it would come up so soon! :)

1/9/12
When told by her dad to give me a kiss:
Abby: No, she can't!
Dad: Why?
Abby: Because I'm yucky!

Upon taking a bite of Tatertot Casserole:
"Woah, that's horrible!" (Can I just clarify that she did like it and ate everything on her plate? lol)

And last for this post, but certainly not least I have to tell you guys that Abby has come to realize that we have started writing down the things that we find funny. This is what she said at dinner:
"Boom! Boom! Boom! (said while pointing at me, her brother, and her father respectively) You need to write that one Mom."

Abby and All Her Wisdom.

Our little girl, Abby, is a beautiful little bundle of smiles and sunshine who is currently 3 years (and 6 months) old. She is very imaginative, loving, playful, and precocious. She has a habit of saying things that leave her father and I in absolute awe and overpowering laughter. She comes up with things that I would NEVER expect to hear out of a 3 year old. Heck, some adults I know aren't half as smart, funny, or quick on their feet as Abby is. The majority of this blog will consist of short updates of things that Abby has said that are noteworthy in our opinion and we hope that you will get as much of a laugh out of her "abbyisms" as we do. My next post will be a smorgasbord of the ones that we have written down since Christmas, but I will end this post with one that she gave us today on the way home from getting her Daddy from work. Enjoy!
